TEDDY GIL JOINS AS SVP ENGINEERING, PRODUCT DESIGN & PROCESS IMPROVEMENT

Sheffield Aerospace is very pleased to announce and welcome Teddy Gil, a 31-year aerospace industry veteran, as SVP Engineering, Product Design & Process Improvement.   This is a new position within the company where Teddy will focus on Owner Operator Produced Parts (OOPP’s) and Process Improvements for our company’s growing client base.

Teddy Gil obtained his B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1997 while working at Delta Air Lines in multiple roles including as a licensed (A&P) Aircraft Maintenance Technician.   Also in 1997, Teddy was promoted to Non-Destructive testing (NDT) aircraft inspector.  In 1999, he was promoted to NDT Training instructor for Electromagnetic (ET), Ultrasound (UT), Radiography (RT), Magnetic Particle (MT), Florescent Penetrant (FT), Thermography (IT), & Visual Inspection (VT) achieving Level II status in UT, RT, and was the first employee at Delta Air Lines to obtain his ASNT Electromagnetic Testing Level III in 2000.  In 2001, Teddy obtained his MBA from the Executive MBA Program at the University of Tennessee.  In 2002, Teddy was promoted to the unique position for the TechOp’s Employee Council and Presiding Officer of the TechOp’s Conflict Resolution Process, reporting to the Delta Air Lines SVP of TechOps and responsible for all process improvement initiatives and positive cultural changes for TechOp’s division of 13,000 plus TechOps professionals.

In 2006, Teddy accepted a position at AirServ Corporation as VP of People Development, Quality, and Innovation, where he was responsible for managing all training, processes execution, startups, and the rollout of new initiatives for operations in the US and Europe.  During his tenure at AirServ, he was instrumental in the organic growth of the company from 1400 to over 8500 employees while revenues increased ten fold to over $400Mil in four years.

In 2010, he returned to Delta Air Lines as a engineering contractor/ consultant providing Ops Support and Cabin Maintenance Project support to improve the customer experience.  By 2013, Teddy had optimized the Owner Operator Produced Parts (OOPP) process, built a solid OOPP supplier base, improved the raw material procurement process reducing part lead times by as much as 50% and reducing cost by 90% in some cases.  He also created a beta testing program for new Marketing initiatives via the OOPP process, and created a prototype program to capture reliability data for existing and new OOPP’s.  By 2016, Teddy’s team grew to be an instrumental part of executive leadership cost savings and cabin initiatives and his team’s charter was dedicated to high customer impact items and cost saving OOPP’s, including; quick turn OOPP’s, Marketing Initiatives, beta testing new materials/ parts, and special aircraft projects/ modifications.

As a part of Teddy’s role with Sheffield, he will continue to lead an on-site team at Delta Air Lines, responsible for the OOPP program. Teddy’s background and experience will help lead Sheffield in our strategy to vertically integrate our capabilities and customer offering.  In addition, his ability to build and harness people’s strengths, and commitment to process improvements are assets that will complement and enhance Sheffield Aerospace’s ability to meet the needs of our customers as we continue to provide quality, innovation, and transformational services to the marketplace.
