Sheffield Aerospace is pleased to announce and welcome Phillip Cheng as Manager and Principal Electrical Engineer. Phillip will join Sheffield Aerospace’s Owner Operator Produced Parts (OOPP) group. As principal engineer on this team, Phillip will focus on resolving operator pain points such as lead times, part cost, and part reliability.
Phillip obtained his B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, then worked with several Atlanta area companies including Nurse Technologies, WEAV3D, the Georgia Tech Manufacturing Institute, and Delta Air Lines. Phillip has obtained experience in embedded systems hardware, software, and controls. He also became knowledgeable in the industry-standard manufacturing processes including electronics manufacturing and additive manufacturing.
At the Georgia Tech Manufacturing Institute and subsequently WEAV3D, Phillip served as Lead Electrical Engineer on an industrial woven composite manufacturing system, leveraging his skills to drive WEAV3D towards success in their industry. At Delta Air Lines Phillip served as the main electrical engineer on cabin interior OOPP parts and has worked on a variety of projects improving customer satisfaction, cabin appearance, and operator reliability.
In his new role at Sheffield Aerospace Phillip will continue to work on-site at Delta Air Lines, and enhance Sheffield’s OOPP program. His technical skill set will be of great value as he helps the company vertically integrate its capabilities and customer offerings. Sheffield Aerospace is excited to have Phillip join the team.
